Thursday 13 first day of school

As a teacher, I use to gently remind parents that their precious little ones where in good hands and that they will have a great day. One year I had a mom try to hang around outside the window to keep watch for awhile. I even remember commenting on how hard it was for parents to cut the apron strings. When did I turn into one of those moms? Even though this is our third year for the first day of school and being a teacher I should be more at peace but......
I miss my girl!

Top 13 reasons I miss Olivia

  1. Her beautiful singing voice filling the house with music
  2. Her contagious laughter
  3. Her silly sense of humor
  4. Her fashion shows
  5. Hearing her read
  6. Watching her and her sister wrestle and play
  7. Her cuddles
  8. Her smile
  9. Her hugs (her sister said she misses this too)
  10. Hearing the Barbie dialogue
  11. Listening to her share an answer to one of her sister's questions about life
  12. Her dancing feet
  13. Her sweet words of wisdom and faith just when her mommy needs them

I love you Olivia! I hope you enjoy your first day of school!

Look out Hannah Montana. . .

there's a new star in town!

Olivia has always enjoyed music. She spends most of her time singing, dancing, or playing an instrument. We discovered that we could use music to calm her as a baby. We have made up songs to help her memorize things for school. Chris and I are both excited to see how God will use her talent. She has already told us several times she wants to be on stage. We are so proud of her bravery and never looking back when given the chance to sing or dance in front of others. She melted my heart the first time she sang in front of her church friends.

Out of the Mouth of Babes part 3

Elaina is fascinated with people who are bald or as she calls it balded. More than a few of the male family members on my side are shall I say hair challenged. Elaina has always had a fondness for them. She even comments on mannequins in stores. I guess she in so interested because it took her a long time to grow her beautiful curls she has now. Here is the before photo.

And the night before she turned five.

What are the chances...

After posting this last week, we were watching the show Don't Forget the Lyrics. Guess what song was picked? You guessed it! And guess what 3 words the contestant had to fill in? Right again! Chris and I both turned to each other and busted up laughing. I then promptly looked Elaina in the eyes and explained that the correct lyrics are about a T-bird which is a car not a TV. Just in case...

Our Birthday Girl

I can't believe our baby is 5 years old today! It seems like yesterday, well maybe not yesterday, but not too long ago we brought her home to giggles and squeals from her big sister. I remenber the room spinning as I realize I now had two little ones. Despite all the planning it still didn't sink into my brain until they were both looking at each other face to face in our living room. I was wondering how I was going to take care of two kids that want me at the same time. Luckily, Olivia was made to be a big sister and she loved to help. She even taught me a thing or two about being patient and that things don't have to be perfect. We have made it through so far and it won't be long before I'll look back on this milestone and ponder where did the time go. Here are some pictures of our birthday girl! We love you Elaina! Enjoy!

Fun, Fun, Fun

It is so much fun to rediscover music with your kids. We took our girls to see The Beach Boys. Thanks to our friends, Joe and Ami! The girls loved it and have been having fun, fun, fun dancing and singing. My dad is a Beach Boys fan and my sister and I grew up listening to them. We even had regular dance night at our house growing up. I love how music can bring back such vivid memories. We drove my mother crazy. We turned up the music so the entire neighborhood could hear it.

Elaina, our soon to be 5 year old, told me that she likes the Fun, Fun, Fun song the best. Her favorite part.....she'll have fun, fun,fun til her daddy takes the TV away! It is so cute I don't want to tell her about the T-bird. What are the chances she will be on a singing game show where she needs to know the lyrics to win a lot of $$$$.
